This week Renee from our friends at\u00a0Madeleine’s Daughter Bridal<\/a>\u00a0have some advice on shopping for\u00a0your wedding wedding gown. Renee\u00a0is the Assistant Store Manager at Madeleine’s Daughter Bridal\u00a0and has years of experience!<\/em><\/p>\n

For so many brides, the pinnacle of wedding planning lies in the choosing of the gown. A wedding gown is a truly transformative garment and shopping for and selecting \u201cthe\u201d dress is unlike any other shopping experience a girl will ever have. But precisely because it\u2019s such a different experience, many brides are actually unprepared for the experience. So, here are 5 tips for when it\u2019s time to shop for your wedding gown!\"bride<\/p>\n

  1. \u00a0<\/strong>Keep an open mind. If I had a nickel for every time a bride left Madeleine\u2019s Daughter saying, \u201cI never in a million years would have thought I\u2019d choose a gown with _____(fill in the blank)_____!\u201d I\u2019d have a LOT of nickels. Whether she comes in asking for a sheath and leaving with a ball gown or thinking she wants major embellishments, but buys a dress that\u2019s perfectly plain silk dupioni, you\u2019d be surprised how often it happens. But keeping an open mind doesn\u2019t mean going in blind. Which leads me to tip #2:<\/li>\n
  2. \u00a0<\/strong>Do your research. Thanks to the internet, specifically Pinterest and designer\u2019s social media accounts, brides have access to images of more dresses than they ever thought possible. Before you make an appointment, take some time to browse dresses and see which designers you are drawn to. Once you\u2019ve determined what you like, then you can choose a salon that carries the designers you love the most. You can also do further research to learn what price range your favorite dresses fall into.
    \nNow that you know what to do before the appointment, here are my tips for your big shopping day!<\/li>\n
  3. Wear some make-up and style your hair. You\u2019re shopping for your bridal gown, a gown you\u2019re going to wear on a day when you will likely be putting a lot more effort into your overall appearance. So, don\u2019t shop without thinking about that detail. The key to buying your wedding gown is visualizing yourself on that day. It can be hard to do that if you haven\u2019t put some effort into your appearance.<\/li>\n
  4. Be emotionally and financially prepared to find your dream dress. While it\u2019s true that some brides visit multiple boutiques and try on dozens of dresses before \u201csaying yes to the dress,\u201d the reality is that most brides find their dream dress in a little as eight dresses. This is especially true at Madeleine\u2019s Daughter where the stylists are there to help narrow the selection. If you\u2019re in the capable hands of an experienced bridal stylist, they\u2019ll be able to get a sense of your overall wedding aesthetic, as well as your personal bridal style in just a few minutes of chatting with you. In addition, they know the dresses intimately. They\u2019ve seen dozens of brides try them on, so they know what dresses work on what body types. They\u2019ll narrow the selection down for you, from the hundreds of dresses out there, to just a handful that they know will be amazing on you. What might have seemed like an overwhelming amount of choices, will be miraculously narrowed down rather quickly. What does this mean for you? It\u2019s HIGHLY likely you\u2019ll find your dress the first time you shop. Many brides aren\u2019t prepared for that. They expect the process to be harder than it is. Our advice is to shop with an attitude that you\u2019re going to be successful in finding your dream dress. (Statistically speaking, you will!) And that leads me to the second half of my tip- being financially prepared. Wedding gowns are part of the fashion industry. And fashion changes all the time. Dresses are discontinued all the time. And those that remain available often take several months to order. Being prepared to put down the deposit on your gown will help alleviate the stress of getting it in time for your wedding. It\u2019s heartbreaking when a bride waits to order her gown and in that month or so of waiting, the gown becomes unavailable. Don\u2019t let that happen to you!<\/li>\n
  5. Finally, one of the most important tips for shopping for your wedding gown:\u00a0<\/strong>Have FUN! The most important thing when shopping for your gown is to remember this is a memorable, exciting experience, so have FUN doing it! Bring a couple of your closest girlfriends and make plans to celebrate afterwards! This is one of the first steps you take in planning a wedding, and it\u2019s also a really amazing memory that you\u2019re creating. Enjoy it!
